Bayan College Participate in 16th Annual Washington International<br /><br /><br> Education Conference<br /><br /><br> Dr. Modi Juma Al-Ghailani, Bayan College attended the 16th Annual<br /><br /><br> Washington International Education Conference conducted by<br /><br /><br> Washington International Education Council held at the University of<br /><br /><br> California Washington, DC Conference Center on February 14 and 15,<br /><br /><br> 2018.<br /><br /><br> Among the universities and colleges functioning in Arab World it was<br /><br /><br> only Bayan College who took part in the 16th Annual Washington<br /><br /><br> International Education Conference which bring together stakeholders in<br /><br /><br> international education from Embassies, sponsoring organizations and<br /><br /><br> universities from throughout the United States and Canada<br /><br /><br> “The conference enlightens with latest and most relevant information on<br /><br /><br> the ethical recruitment and programming of international students and<br /><br /><br> exchanges information that has contributed to the progress of<br /><br /><br> international education around the world through different sessions”,<br /><br /><br> said Dr. Modi Juma Al-Ghailani.<br /><br /><br> Dr. Modi also said that high profile delegates from Sultanate of Oman<br /><br /><br> Ministry of Higher Education head by HE Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al<br /><br /><br> Sarmi, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and<br /><br /><br> delegates like Dr.Talal Al Balushi, Culture Attaché at the Sultanate of<br /><br /><br> Oman Embassy in Washington also attended the conference.<br /><br /><br> Washington International Education Conference provides the latest<br /><br /><br> information on the recruitment of international students, admissions and<br /><br /><br> campus life, and which also gives access to key embassy officials and<br /><br /><br> sponsoring agencies responsible for the placement of students.<br /><br /><br> “Expert speakers spoke on topics like trends in international education<br /><br /><br> and representatives from Barton Carlyle, the pew Research Centre the<br /><br /><br> United States Department of Homeland Security the Department of State<br /><br /><br> and the Department of Commerce provided the latest information”, said<br /><br /><br> Dr.Modi.<br /><br /><br> Adding to that Dr. Modi also said that presentation on „Why<br /><br /><br> international students fail, a language testing perspective‟, by Puck<br /><br /><br> Fernsten focusing on different points like comparison of major language<br /><br /><br> tests and how to retain students for internationalization success was<br /><br /><br> highly appreciative.<br /><br /><br> She also said that there were other speakers who presented on various<br /><br /><br> topics like, „Engaging US Universities and Colleges in International<br /><br /><br> Education and Development‟, „Origins and Destinations of Foreign<br /><br /><br> Students in the United States‟, , „Indian Students and State of Higher<br /><br /><br> Education in India‟, „Trump Trends: How Immigration Changes are<br /><br /><br> Affecting International Student Enrollment‟, which was very<br /><br /><br> informative.<br /><br /><br> During the conference, participants were escorted to embassies<br /><br /><br> representing countries from across the globe and U.S. key Federal<br /><br /><br> government partners including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the<br /><br /><br> U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland<br /><br /><br> Security. In addition, participants were given a platform to learn from<br /><br /><br> highly regarded peers and research institutions that are committed to the<br /><br /><br> study and implementation of international student recruiting and<br /><br /><br> admissions.<br /><br /><br> “The conference were extremely helpful with most experienced and<br /><br /><br> expert speakers which made all participants to be benefited with the<br /><br /><br> trends and issues, data and practical tips to manage international student<br /><br /><br> program effectively”, added Dr. Modi Al-Ghailani.<br /><br /><br> Conference attendees included education and cultural attaches,<br /><br /><br> university, college, independent school and language program<br /><br /><br> administrators who oversee international university student recruiting<br /><br /><br> and admissions and those who serve as liaisons to these students once on<br /><br /><br> campus, Federal government representatives, and representatives from<br /><br /><br> NGOs.<br /><br /><br> According to Washington International Education Council, over 480<br /><br /><br> colleges, universities, embassies, U.S. government departments and<br /><br /><br> international organizations participated in the Washington International<br /><br /><br> Education Conferences over the years. Colleges and universities have<br /><br /><br> benefited obtaining the latest information about new programs that<br /><br /><br> sponsor international students and the best way to reach students who<br /><br /><br> are interested in pursuing higher education.</p><br /><br>
